Motivation, the Great Unknown
If you’re a digital nomad, you know how elusive motivation can be. We’re free to work from anywhere - Bali, Lisbon, or a cozy café nearby - and yet we often find ourselves in that frustrating position: laptop open, countless tasks waiting, but no desire to tackle them. We tell ourselves, “I need to feel motivated, or I can’t start.”
Here’s the issue: motivation isn’t a spark that falls from the sky and transforms you into a productivity powerhouse. It doesn’t come before you act; it comes after.
Motivation is a side effect of action, not its engine. Motivation is chemistry, specifically, dopamine, the reward hormone. When you do something, answer an email, complete a small task, or publish a post, your brain rewards you. It gives you a little dose of satisfaction, and that feeling fuels you to keep going.
